In 2024, more than 66,000 Americans are expected to be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. A pancreatic cancer diagnosis only has a 5-year survival rate of 13%. There are still no effective treatments, and "wins" in this disease are measured in weeks, not years.
Silver Pennies participates in PurpleStride, the signature event of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCan). Team David’s Daredevils was founded in honor and memory of David Skelton, and in 2018, our team expanded to include four families impacted by pancreatic cancer. PurpleStride is critical in raising awareness and funds that advance research and support patients and loved ones with a promise of a better tomorrow. Since 2013, David's Daredevils has raised over $334,000 for PanCan. Join us in New York City for the 2024 event.

Breast cancer is the second most common cancer among women in the United States. Silver Pennies' President, Jann Skelton, has walked ten times in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in New York City with team Angela's Angels to support her friend Angela, a breast cancer survivor. The walk was the distance of a marathon (26.2 miles) on Saturday and a half marathon (13.1 miles) on Sunday.
The money raised went to the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade, a 501(c)(3) public charity whose mission was to provide access to care and to work toward finding a cure. They provided funding to organizations all over the country in five areas: medical research, clinical care, support services, educational and advocacy seminars, and community-based, non-profit early detection breast health programs. Angela's Angels raised over $125,000 for this cause, and Silver Pennies Consulting was proud to be a supporter of the Team!
The American Pharmacists Association Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization focused on creating a new medication use system where patients, pharmacists, physicians and other health care professionals collaborate to dramatically improve the cost effectiveness and quality of consumer health outcomes. Jann Skelton is honored to serve as a member of the Advisory Committee for the APhA Foundation, and we strongly support the mission and objectives of the Foundation.
