Pancreatic Cancer Action Network - David’s Daredevils

In 2018 more than 55,000 Americans will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Pancreatic cancer takes 91% of its patients within 5 years and is anticipated to move from the third to the second leading cause of cancer death in the U.S. by 2020. There are still no effective treatments, and "wins" in this disease are measured in weeks, not years. In 2010, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network declared a bold and aggressive vision: after seeing too little progress in pancreatic cancer survival in over half a century, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network put a stake in the ground to double pancreatic cancer survival by 2020.

Silver Pennies participates in PurpleStride, the signature event of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCan). Team David’s Daredevils was founded in honor and memory of David Skelton, and in 2018, our team expanded to include four families impacted by pancreatic cancer. PurpleStride is critical in raising awareness and funds that advance research and support patients and loved ones with a promise of a better tomorrow. Since 2013, David's Daredevils has raised over $136,000 for PanCan. Join us in New York City at Prospect Park for the 2019 event. Details about the event will be shared when available.

Avon Walk for Breast Cancer - Angela's Angels

Breast cancer will take almost 41,000 lives in the U.S. in 2018. Silver Pennies' President, Jann Skelton, has walked ten times in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in New York City with team Angela's Angels to support her friend Angela, a breast cancer survivor. The walk was the distance of a marathon (26.2 miles) on Saturday and a half marathon (13.1 miles) on Sunday.

The money raised went to the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade, a 501(c)(3) public charity whose mission was to provide access to care and to work toward finding a cure. They provided funding to organizations all over the country in five areas: medical research, clinical care, support services, educational and advocacy seminars, and community-based, non-profit early detection breast health programs. Angela's Angels raised over $125,000 for this cause, and Silver Pennies Consulting was proud to be a supporter of the Team!
